Dear Molyx53 Team!

Hope you are having a lovely summer so far or winter depending on where you are ^_^.
My name is Tania and I am the moderator assigned to groups MOlYX51 through MOlYX60. I am here to basically assist all of you in any way I can to keep your group together, evolving, creating and hopefully finishing up all the wonderful books that are floating around between each others hands, inclusive of nudging anyone along who falls behind and anything else in between.

This is a great video from TED (I can't explain TED, but you can check it out yourself...great time waster!) anyway, just a little fun for our "tidy" artist friends!

Ok...I sent my moly on to Manuel on Monday too... I sent it priority international, but the PO guy said you couldn't track that either. The only way to send it internationally from the US and have it tracked would've cost me $25! Hey, I like you guys, but not that much! Supposedly, priority should only take about 6-9 days. The PO guys told me that "Argentina and Spain were both 3rd world countries"... what?! Since when?!

So, Manuel: ya better pipe in or you'll have some moly women on your butt! And Juan: did you ever get my moly??

Hey, life is seriously crazy, so I think we have to just let this moly exchange move along as it will. I'm still excited about it and all of the work we've done is BEAUTIFUL. If it takes a year, it takes a year...

yes, so I've got a new moly and I was trying to come up with new theme for my new moly.
Well after having a nice cup of tea, I came up with this theme.

I'd like you to draw your favorite afternoon. cups, cupcakes, naps, coffee, parks, cafes etc....

Here's a picture I took of my backyard today...it's 20 degrees BELOW zero, an unreal kind of cold.

I did a bit of post office research and found out that International First Class Air Mail Parcels do not have tracking numbers and are considered "low priority" (ie if they fall on the floor they stay there). You can find out when you brought it to the P.O., but after that it's on it's own. I think the best way for us to send them is Priority Mail, that way it's "not so low priority" and you can track it throughout it's journey. I sent Juan my moly First Class (which to me implied FIRST CLASS!) and God only knows where it is right now. (Juan, I did find the tracking # and all it said was that, yes...I did bring it to the post office on 12/8 at 1:15pm.)

I think I'm going to re-do mine and if Juan gets it then we can just have one more going around the world. Manuel, I didn't send Jen's bc I wanted to check on this mailing deal so I'm sending it Priority to Spain.

I love the new photos of your moly's! Maybe when we're done you could all send me photos of the progress, maybe some of where you live and I'll make a cool slide show out of it!

I sent my moly to manu last month (on the 12th of December), Manu hasn't received it yet..
So yes, I'm sorry guys I think it went missing somewhere in Spain.
I'm getting new Japanese moly tonigh and will do the new one as soon as possible.

Because our group is totally international, my theme is simply a view from where you live. This is the view of the River Clyde which runs to Glasgow from the Atlantic. It would be cool if you could follow this on with a place you like.

I still have the sign in bit to do and I'll get this in the post to Rin as soon as the post office opens up.

I finished the entry into my own book and sent it off to Beth! The colors are horrible, le motif girly, but hey!from now on i can only get better.

so let´s get started! juanh and me are making an adress list and will send it via email to all of you.
what about the rotation order? i think it would be nice to have different rotation orders for each moly, so you can interact with everyone´s work. what do you say?
you can also start your moly with a theme, if you like it, i´d just might do that..i´ll send a soundtrack along with a mine, so you´ll get inspired. :)
so get working, i want your moly in my house by the end of november!

Moly_x_53, founded by Je Ad (Germany), is an extension of the Moleskine Exchange. This blog will follow the adventure of a group of artists around the world, in a Japanese fold Moleskine sketchbook exchange. Our current group includes the artists listed to the right, including contributors in many different countries all over the world.

Each artist will set off with a small Japanese (accordian) folded Moleskine. Creating a drawing, collage, or painting, then send on to the next artist. Each artist will draw on a couple of spreads (3-4 pages) then send it on to the next artist. When the artists book is filled, it will be returned to the owner with images created by artist around the world. Each artist has a month (give or take) to make an entry. The outcome will be a pleasant and surprising adventure, as artists are encouraged to interact and merge their art with others.

The concept:

1. The artists start with the Japanese fold Moleskine - Name, address, email address written in book.

2. Each artist gets 1 month (give or take) to make a sketchbook entry, and mail it to the next person. The order is listed to the right -- for participants in this exchange, look at the list of names under MAILING ORDER. If you ever need to update addresses, please feel free to contact your partners directly! An important part of this project is to discuss and exchange information and ideas.

3. Each artist will do 3-4 pages each round.

4. Artists are encouraged to interact with other images in the book. Please be respectful, but also don't hesitate to meld your art with earlier entries.

5. When the book is full, when one side of the unfolded book is filled, the book will be sent back to its original owner. That artist may continue by buying a new book and sending it to the next person.

6. If a person decides not to continue, she will simply keep her book when it comes back to her. She should email all of the participants to say she is not going to continue. We will decide, then, if we want to find a new person.

7. Please communicate regularly via email. Let each person know that you have received/sent the book. The goal is to have a dialogue. Any comments and questions are welcome.
